I have now been in France a little over a month. its kind of strange to think that a month ago i was preparing to leave, then a few months before that i didnt even imagine i would be laying in bed looking out the window, onto french streets, frnehc people and a whole different part of the world.
As days go by I am settling in more and more to the culture and daily routines. Getting up for school in the mornings is becomming just as challlenging as back in Australia. Probably just because of the 8am starts however.
After school i tend to stay with my friends and we go into commerce or hang around the school for a bit then i usually come home and relax.
Jenna and i have been meeting up quite a bit lately, its so handy having her live only 15 minuites walking distance away. weve started going walking/jogging in the local park which is really tranquil. We get along like peas and carrots, its great to have someone who is going through the same things as me and living the same kind of journey.
Last weekend we went into Nantes on Saturday and went shopping and exploring, we went to this market which was on, and it was really cool. there were fruit and veggies, pastries hot food, olives, hand made clothes cheese (ovcourse). There was this one stall with massive wok’s, the most amazing looking food was being cooked in them, the smell was great. We came across a stall with a man which was selling brioche. Brioche is like the inside of a croissant but in loaf form. it is to die for. Jenna hadn’t tried it before so i told her we must buy one. as we went to purchase it i was getting the money out and i was talking to Jenna asking her about the money in English and the man must of heard us, because when i went to purchase a loaf from him (speaking in french) he asked us if we were English speakers, and we said yes.. je suis Australian. He then waved his hand with a big smile on his face and said “a gift”, this put us in very good moods for the rest of the day. We ventured out to our park, which was in the most perfect weather and ate the whole brioche, it tasted so much better knowing it came from a nice deed on somebody elses behalf.
That night at home there was a call from Justice’s (Friend from Australia living 50 mins away in Beaufou) sister, inviting me to a table tennis event in Nantes because Justice and some of her siblings were coming into Nantes for it for the day.
Marie-Pierre said this was fine and the next day i packed a picnic lunch of baguettes fruit and biscuits and they drove me to the HUGE table tennis stadium. It is such a major sport over here. The people who play are crazy, they can go on for minutes without the ball hitting the ground, and the speed that they play is phenomenal.
So we watched the matches and got really into it, supporting Beaufou’s team. for a couple of hours i took Justice into Nates and gave her a bit of a tour of the city, such as the chateau and cathedral and cute little streets. We bought cookies and took them back to the stadium and had a good time talking and watching.
One day during the week after school, A few of my friends and I all went back to Paulines house because Lisbeth Mathilde and Pauline needed to finish off their school assignment. Marie and I just tagged along for the fun of it. we took the tram up to the same station where jenna and i got off that same weekend to find a massive shopping centre which had a massive bigW store, but with a supermarket in it aswell, it was of HUGE scale and sold pretty much everything.
ANyhoo so my frined sand i caught a bus fromt he station through all these houseing estates, there was this one part with these french provintial houses all set on like 1 acres alotments with massive green trees in a forest like theme. it was so beautiful.
we walked to paulines house after getting off the bus, Something changed that day, it was like the friendship between all of them and i strenghthened, had reached a new level.
the next day at school was really good, we were all getting along and having good conversations, it was more relaxed and less formal you could say.
Last night my family and i all went out to dinner at a new restaurant near clemonts bakery. I had frog legs for entree! they kind of taste like chick, more chewy, only a tiny bit of meat, and lots of bines. but it wasnt gooey or anything like i thought it might be.
As of yesterday ive been sick, got the sniffles and i think a sore throat comming along. really hope its not tonsillitis.. i have meds for it if i get it anyhoo. but just really dont want to be sick.
This is my final week of school before the 2 weeks holidays, i am not too sure what i will be doing over the holidays, probably seeing my friends and exploring, maybe Robert and Marie-Pierre will take me somewhere. I’m not too sure.
Hadnt spoken to back home in 2 weeks, so i as going to write a massive email, i opened up my inbox to find a big message from mum. SHe was sayign she really needs to hear from me, and that i was missed alot back home. her knee is not good at the moment because of her fall last year, so she needs to use the spa under my bed. so they asked if they could take down my pictures and such so they dont get ruined.i dont really mind, it will give me the opertunity to re decorate when i get home. They also said for my birthday to buy a camera online, was great to hear this because ive been on tumblr alot lately and its really inticing me to take photos. and i am really keen to keep documenting my whole trip over here.
So im off to get ready for Lycee now, i got to sleep in this morning because i start at 12:50 today, only have to go in for and hour and half of maths, woo!
For now though, Au revoir.
